![]() This day of commemoration of those killed in wars and conflict falls on Sunday 11 November 2018. The date also marks the 100th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the Great War, as the First World War was known. The Armistice was signed at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. Our 11:30 Mass on 11 November will be attended by our uniformed groups, who will pay tribute to our war dead, with the Plainchant Choir providing fitting solemn music. John Byrne will be representing our parish in laying a wreath at Streatham War Memorial at the Service of Remembrance which commences at 10:30 the same morning The Polyphony Choir is seeking an organist of grade six or above, with a desire to improve. Good sight-reading would be an advantage; patience with note bashing, and a good sense of humour would be invaluable!
Most importantly, the ability to fulfil a commitment to two Tuesday evening rehearsals (20:00 to 21:30) each month, and 11:30 Masses on first Sundays (not August) plus Christ the King (11:30), Christmas Carol Concert (14:30), Christmas Midnight (23:30), Maundy Thursday (20:00), Good Friday (15:00) and Easter Vigil (20:30). The stipend is negotiable according to experience. Practice time on the instrument is available by agreement. The Choir would welcome anyone interested in filling the position to go along and meet them all. You would be welcome to spend a couple of Tuesdays with them without commitment. This well renowned choir, which is an integral part of parish life, will celebrate its 50th year in 2019, and enjoys a happy social aspect to its work. You will become part of a great and happy team!
