Catholic Prayers to Our Lady

Picture
Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour
The Memorare

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that it is a thing unheard of that anyone who had recourse to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left forsaken.

Filled therefore with confidence in your goodness, I fly to you, O Mother, Virgin of virgins. To you I come; before you I stand a sorrowful sinner. Despise not my words, O Mother of the Word, but graciously hear and grant my prayer.

The Magnificat

My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour. He looks on his servant in her lowliness; henceforth all ages will call me blessed;

The Almighty works marvels for me, Holy is His Name! His mercy is from age to age, on all who fear Him.

He puts forth His arm in strength and scatters the proud-hearted. He casts the mighty from their thrones and raises the lowly.

He fills the starving with good things, sends the rich away empty. He protects Israel, His servant, remembering His mercy, the mercy promised to our fathers, to Abraham and his sons forever.

The Angelus

V/. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.
R/. And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary, full of grace …

V/. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
R/. Be it done unto me according to your word.
Hail Mary, full of grace …

V/. (with head bowed) And the Word was made flesh.
R/. And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary, full of grace …

V/. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

R/. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray. Pour forth, we beseech you, O Lord, your grace into our hearts, that, we to whom the incarnation of Christ, your Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross, be brought to the glory of His Resurrection. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for England

O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our most gentle Queen and Mother, look down in mercy upon England, thy Dowry, and upon us all who greatly hope and trust in thee.

By thee it was that Jesus, our Saviour and our hope, was given unto the world; and He has given thee to us that we might hope still more.

Plead for us thy children, whom thou didst receive and accept at the foot of the Cross.

O sorrowful Mother, intercede for our separated brethren, that with us in the one true fold they may be united to the Chief Shepherd, the Vicar of thy Son.

Pray for us all, dear Mother, that by faith fruitful in good works we may all deserve to see and praise God together with thee in our heavenly home. Amen.

Hail Queen of Heaven (Ave Regina Coelorum)

Hail, Queen of Heaven, beyond compare,
To whom the angels homage pay;
Hail, Root of Jesse, Gate of Light
That opened for the world's new Day
Rejoice, O Virgin unsurpassed,
In whom our ransom was begun,
For all your loving children pray
To Christ, our Saviour, and your Son.
Hail Mary

Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

The Regina Coeli

V/. Queen of Heaven, rejoice! Alleluia.
R/. For He whom you were worthy to bear. Alleluia.
V/. Has risen as He said. Alleluia.
R/. Pray for us to our God. Alleluia.
V/. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary. Alleluia.
R/. For the Lord has risen indeed. Alleluia.

Let us pray: God our Father, you gave joy to the world by the Resurrection of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Through the prayers of his Mother, the Virgin Mary, bring us to the happiness of eternal life. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen (Salve Regina)

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

V/. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God
R/. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray: O God, whose only-begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech you, that meditating on the mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Mother of Christ (Alma Redemptoris Mater)

Mother of Christ! hear thou thy people's cry,
Star of the deep and Portal of the sky!
Mother of Him who thee from nothing made,
Sinking we strive, and call to thee for aid:
Oh, by that joy which Gabriel brought to thee,
Thou Virgin, first and last, let us thy mercy see.
Under Your Protection (Sub tuum praesidium)

We fly to thy protection, O holy Mother of God.
Despise not our petitions in our necessities,
but deliver us always from all dangers
O glorious and blessed Virgin.
