Dear friends
The holy celebration of Christmas invites us to remember what really matters in life. At the centre of Christmas is the birth of a child, the Son of God, defenceless and vulnerable. This new-born is totally dependent on those around him to provide love, food and shelter. We share the responsibility of providing for each other, especially for our weaker brothers and sisters. May the blessing of the Christ Child enrich your life this Christmas and through the coming year.
Father Deodat Msahala, Father Tomasz Margol & Deacon Ged Perkins A big thank you for all your support this year with the Crisis appeals.
The 44 shoe boxes were fantastic! Today your generosity has been exceptional. We have raised £460 from the raffle and coffee morning. This money has helped house 22 people over the Christmas period and also can help get them get a chance to work towards ending their homelessness by advice and training. Your support for the projects that Bart Seniors embark on is amazing. We would like to wish you all a lovely Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year. The Bart Seniors Team x Details of the 2020 Confirmation Programme at St. Bartholomew's are now available on our Website; click on the image above.
If you are involved in any way, be aware that there is much important information to become familiar with! The Archdiocese's Clergy Support Fund has launched a fund-raising campaign. Please click on the images below to read about this important initiative. We have a duty to support our retired clergy after so many years of active service to the people of Southwark.
Od Nowego roku, w każdą pierwszą Niedzielę miesiąca, ks Tomasz będzie sprawował Mszę świętą w języku polskim. Pierwsza Msza będzie sprawowana 5-go stycznia 2020 roku o godz 13.
Prosilibyśmy, jeśli byliby Państwo tak dobrzy i poinformowali swoich znajomych, którzy chcieliby przyłączyć się do naszej wspólnej modlitwy. Commencing in the New Year, Fr Tomasz will be saying Mass in Polish on the first Sunday of each month. The first Mass will be on Sunday 5 January 2020 at 13:00. Do let all your Polish friends know about this. Thank you for all your support for the Shoe Box Appeal for Crisis.
We received (top picture) a staggering 44 boxes, a large amount new clothes and toiletries. These have now been handed into Crisis Croydon (bottom picture) who were overwhelmed by your support. Following the sad news of the death of Father Tom Creagh-Fuller the following funeral arrangements have been made: Tuesday 17 December: 19:00 Reception of Father Tomas Creagh-Fuller’s Body followed by Requiem Mass at St. William of York Church, 4 Brockley Park, Forest Hill SE23 1PS Wednesday 18 December: 12:00 Funeral Mass, St. Edmund of Canterbury Church, 20 Village Way, Beckenham, BR3 3NP followed by a reception in the parish hall - the family will leave later for a private service at the Crematorium. Father Tom Creagh-Fuller CEP, MA, FRSA, FTCL, STL - a short appreciation Father Tom passed through St. Mary’s College, Strawberry Hill, as a postgraduate ahead of a teaching career. He served as Director of Music at St. Edmunds, Beckenham, and as Deacon until entering seminary in Rome in 1996. His first appointment after his Ordination was as Curate to us here at St. Bartholomew’s in 2000. A hugely talented musician, Father Tom was extremely supportive of our parish choirs and orchestra - to the best of our knowledge he has been the only member of our clergy to find the necessary keys and go up to the choir gallery and play the organ! He held a long association with the Bromley Philharmonic Choir (acting as principle conductor from 1991-93), and the Bromley Oecumenical Singers where he was Conductor Laureate. In the Archdiocese, Father Tom played active roles in Marriage & Family Life, and in the Ongoing Formation of Priests. Recently (June 2019) he had co-authored two books entitled Preparing for Marriage in the Catholic Church, one for Catechists and a companion volume for Candidates. Father Tom was appointed Parish Priest at Corpus Christi, Brixton Hill in July 2019, and passed away on 5 November aged 69. Requiescat in pace. Please pray for the safe and happy repose of the soul of Father Tom, who very sadly passed away on Tuesday 5 November. Father Tom was a curate here at St. Bartholomew's from 2000 to 2003. He was an accomplished musician, and hugely supportive of the music in our parish. Requiescat in Pace.
