Beware of Scammers

23/11/2024

Picture
Message from the Diocesan ICT Department:

We’d like to bring to your attention a concerning rise in scam emails targeting our parishioners. These emails impersonate the parish priest, often using a similar email name and masking the real email address. They typically request the recipient to purchase Amazon or other gift cards as gifts for the priest. Unfortunately, we have received reports of parishioners falling victim to these scams, with some individuals losing up to £600 to the fraudsters. Parishioners are asked:

• Never to purchase gift cards as gifts for the parish priest, based on an email request, unless they have verified the request directly in person or through a trusted means

• To double-check any suspicious email by directly contacting the parish office

• To avoid sharing personal or financial information in response to unsolicited emails.

If your parishioners encounter these emails, please encourage them to report them as spam and inform the parish office immediately

The Exsultet at the 2024 Easter Vigil - The Parish Rejoices in candlelight!

1/4/2024

Picture
What an absolutely amazing occasion this was! A truly wonderful celebration of the Resurrection of Our Lord, Jesus Christ!

Thank you so much to Jed Murphy, our Master of Ceremonies, for capturing the occasion we welcomed Easter into our hearts and souls so brilliantly.

Equally, thank you to all those who contributed to the occasion in whatever role - far too many to name individually, which says so much for our parish.

Father Damian arrives with us as Assistant Priest on 15 April 2024, and we welcome him warmly, and wish him a very happy time with us at St. Bart's.

He arrives with us fresh from his ministry at St. Edmund's, Beckenham.

We'll find out a bit about Father Damian soon after he arrives, and add some background to him on our Parish Clergy page in due course.

Father David Standley RIP

22/3/2024

It is with much sadness that we inform you that Father David Standley died on 21 March 2024 at St Peter's Residence, Vauxhall.

A gentle and good-humoured man, he had often said Masses here at St. Bartholomew’s in recent years when we needed the assistance of an additional priest.

May his soul now rest happily in eternal peace.

We'll soon be saying 'Farewell' to Father Paul

15/3/2024

Picture
Sadly, Father Paul’s last Mass here will be on Easter Sunday. He will then be moving as directed by his bishop. We thank Father Paul for his service to this parish over the past year. Our prayers go with him as he moves on. We are expecting our new Assistant Priest around the middle of April 2024.

We shall miss his ever-present smile, good humour, and his singing.

As a parish, we wish him well in his new appointment, and hope that he continues his amazing bread-making talent into his new community

Accessibility - St. Bartholomew's does its utmost to accommodate those with additional needs. Whilst the main body of the church is wholly accessible to people with mobility disabilities, the choir gallery is both approached by stairs and the seating is then stepped by design. The church has a wheelchair-accessible toilet, and baby-changing facilities. There is a Loop System (AFIL) in place in the church.
