We are happy to announce that the next course will run on Saturdays 14 & 21 November 2020 at 14:30 in the Retro Chapel.
Due to COVID restrictions, the course will be limited to four families, on a first come, first served basis.
Courses will then resume in January 2021, God willing. Please contact the Parish Office if you would like to join this two-session course.
We can now announce the reintroduction of Confession. This will be on a first-come-first-served basis from Saturday 8 August, after the 10:00 Mass, from 10:30 until 11:00.
Confessions will be heard in the working sacristy, where the servers normally vest. You will firstly be directed to the Retro Chapel to wait. After you have made your Confession, you should leave immediately and make your penance at home. Please follow social distancing guidelines and any directions you are given by the clergy or stewards.
Today, Sunday 10 May, we would in normal circumstances have been celebrating our third, and final, First Holy Communion Mass. Sadly this was not to be the case. Father Deo has written some lovely words to our First Holy Communion children and they may be read HERE. Please remember them all in your prayers.
From February there will be Confessions in Polish each Saturday preceding the first Sunday of the month 15:00-17:00.
SPOWIEDŹ W JĘZYKU POLSKIM
Od przyszłego miesiąca, w każdą sobotę przed niedzielną Mszą w języku polskim będzie możliwość spowiedzi po polsku od 3 do 5 po południu.
The programme for our children's 2019 First Holy Communion preparation, their parents' participation, and the Masses that everything culminates in is now available to be consulted HERE.
Practices for First Holy Communion Masses will take place as follows, in every case from 18:00 to 19:30:
Wednesday 6 June (practice for Mass of 10 June)
Wednesday 13 June (practice for Mass of 17 June)
Wednesday 20 June (practice for Mass of 23 June)
The Reconciliation Service, followed by First Confessions, will take place this Tuesday 20 March 2018 at 19:00 in the Church. Please ensure children arrive in good time. Parents and guardians are asked to wait silently and prayerfully in the Retro Chapel, or as otherwise directed. We expect to be in the church for about an hour.
Due to the inclement weather, it may be necessary to cancel First Holy Communion and Confirmation sessions. Unless you hear otherwise, they will go ahead as planned. You will be contacted by the organisers should cancellation be necessary.
If you are concerned about any parish group meetings, kindly contact the relevant organisers, since meetings may be cancelled and rearranged on an ad hoc basis
Please be aware that, due to a special event for our First Holy Communion candidates, there will be no Confessions after the 10:00 Mass. Confessions will be heard as usual from 17:00 to 18:00.
First Holy Communion Masses for 2018 have now been allocated. The list is posted on the notice board in the main porch. Please note the date allocated to your child. Please check carefully the spelling of names. If any amendments are required, please let the parish office know.
There will be a very important meeting for all parents at 20:00 on Tuesday 9 January in the lower hall. At this meeting, vital information will be given to you.
A reminder to all potential Confirmation candidates that their application forms should be returned to the Parish Office no later than Sunday 7 January.
Parents, guardians and candidates are reminded of the Introductory Meeting to be held in the lower hall on Wednesday 17 January 2018 at 19:30.
Bishop Patrick Lynch will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation on Pentecost Sunday, 20 May 2018, at 12:00.
Please will all parents wanting to enrol their children in next year’s First Holy Communion Programme collect an application form from the black folder in the porch. The form includes all dates and times for next year. If you take a form, please write your name and your children’s names on the list in that folder.
The dates list is also available to download from our Eucharist Page.
On the evening of Friday 24 June 2017, Bishop Patrick Lynch visited St. Bartholomew's to confer the Sacrament of Confirmation on 42 of our young people. The Mass was a wonderful and uplifting occasion. Bishop Pat commented on how well all the candidates took part and how clearly they made their responses. Congratulations go to all the newly confirmed, their families and their sponsors. Special thanks goes to the team of catechists, who have been preparing the group for the last seven months, and to the priests and altar servers who attended. Please remember our young people in your prayers that, filled with the Holy Spirit, they will go forth and use their newly acquired Gifts in the service of the Lord.
